HERO Work Program (HWP)
Purpose: The HERO Work Program provides current residents of the Stephen Center with
employment and job training opportunities. Our tenant workers are key members
of the Stephen Center team and play a critical role in success of our
organization. Our tenant workers are asked to fill roles across multiple
departments, as dictated by need and employee preference, to include the
Kitchen and Donation Center departments.
Key
Accountabilities:
Kitchen:
- Light
cooking, prep work and serving cafeteria style meals to clients.
- Perform kitchen prep work and prepare the kitchen and
client areas for service.
- Perform kitchen break down work to include putting food
and dishes away and turning off all ovens, stoves, and other cooking
equipment.
- Ensure all areas of the kitchen, food prep, and food
storage areas are clean and properly sanitized. This includes washing
dishes and cooking equipment, cleaning floors, sanitizing countertops, and
maintaining all areas to health code standards.
- Receive food
merchandise, unload and/or unpack it, mark it with codes to be identified,
and stock shelves, freezers, and/or coolers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Donation Center:
· Assist
in donation intake, organization and outflow.
· Assist
in picking up merchandise and/or driving the Donation Center truck and van as
needed and as qualified.
· Assist
with loading and unloading of the Donation Center truck and van, donor
vehicles, and vender vehicles.
· Perform
general upkeep in the Donation Center area to include sweeping, mopping,
dusting, basic maintenance and outdoor clean up.
· Other
duties as assigned.
Position
Requirements:

Must be a current resident of the Stephen Center in either
the HERO program.
